WFW Educational Event Kick-off: Blind Tasting Flights
We are delighted to present to you the first of our Educational Events! Our Education Events will bring in experts on topics that we have been asked to dive into by our lovely WFW supporters, while others have come about by opportunities to connect with experts that we could not pass up. These events are meant to continue to broaden our understanding of the delicious intersection of wine, agriculture, and food.
Blind tasting is an informative, instructive, and often humbling approach to tasting and assessing wine. This approach to tasting helps experts hone their palates in a very precise way – in the WFW cellar, we always taste blind in order to best asses blending and winemaking techniques.
For this ticketed, seated event, guests will taste two flights – one of sparkling wines and one of red blends – with the goal of evaluating the wines from the perspective of a winemaker. What better way to understand what is brought to a wine by winemaking techniques and terroir aspects? We will utilize the grid standardized by the Court of Master Sommeliers, but may also incorporate a ranking system in the second flight... Also: tons of fun and delicious. Don’t miss this!
